The knife is what will actually cut your meat during the grinding process, while the plate will determine the size of the grind. We recommend matching a grinder knife to a plate so they wear evenly. If you are using one knife with multiple plates, your knife will wear faster than the plates. Also the knife will make a wear pattern on the plate. When they are married and only used with each other,they will actually cut better for a longer period of time.

The only attachments that fit the Might Bite Grinder are the two patty makers (517 and 687). You may have to set the grinder on something to raise it from the table so the 517 patty maker paper will roll off properly.

We do not recommend this grinder for grinding soft bones. We would recommend only our # 12, 22 and 32 Big Bite Grinders for grinding chicken bones.

This grinder's gears are all metal but one. There is one plastic gear in the motor. The plastic gear is made of nylon. It is extremely durable, self-lubricating and it's main purpose is to reduce noise.

We recommend handwashing the Mighty Bite parts and NOT putting them in the dishwasher. They are composed of Aluminum, which will pit and turn black in the dishwasher.

Yes our foot switch SKU# 724 will work with this grinder. It will not operate the reverse switch, though. It would simply turn the unit on and off.

The Might Bite #8 Grinder comes with a two year warranty.

No - the Big Bite Auger is not available for this unit. It would actually not be compatible as this unit uses a different type of motor than our Big Bite Grinders. If you're interested in the bigger bite of the auger to process faster, we would highly suggest one of our Big Bite Grinders, which comes with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

The best practice is to grind the meat twice, first through the coarse plate and second through the fine plate. That will yield the best texture and will cause the least stress on the equipment.
