Yes, the walnut cracker is designed to crack all hard nuts. You would need to remove the husk first before placing in the cracker.

The base that is shown is a part of the walnut cracker. It does not need to be mounted to a table.

Since the Butternut tree is a species of Walnut tree you can use the Walnut our cracker to get the job done.
