Bacon Burger
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground venison (or beef)
- ½ lb bacon, finely chopped or ground
- ½ cup breadcrumbs or crushed saltine crackers
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Directions:
- Prepare the Bacon:
- If you have a meat grinder, grind the bacon to mix evenly with the venison. If not, finely chop the bacon into small pieces.
- Mix the Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground venison, chopped bacon, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
- Gently mix with your hands until just combined—avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender.
- Form the Patties:
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾-inch thick.
- Press a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing up while cooking.
- Cook the Burgers:
- Grill: Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (for ground venison or beef).
- Skillet: Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side, flipping once, until fully cooked.
- Rest & Serve:
- Remove the burgers from heat and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving to keep them juicy.
- Serve on a toasted bun with your favorite toppings like cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and condiments.
? Pro Tip: Add a slice of cheddar or smoked gouda during the last minute of cooking for an extra layer of flavor! Enjoy with fries or grilled veggies!
