Worth the money
Purchased a lessor tool and these are far superior. Well built and easy to use. They are a little slower than the spring fed but each ring goes on correctly.

This pliers worked great for clamping the ends of our deer sausage casings and we made around 400 sausages this year. You didn't have to squeeze hard at all to get the rings tight around the casings so it was very easy on the hands. The pliers we used previously to this one didn't clamp tightly and you had to squeeze very hard to get the ring closed, and then it still wasn't closed properly. I would definitely recommend this pliers. It made processing our deer much easier.

What size of rings are used for Summer sausage casings and hamberger bages? Thanks Rick

We would recommend the 3/8 rings for bags and small casings. The 1/2 rings are great for large casings like the jumbo bologna.

What size ring would you use when bagging whole chickens

It is dependent on the thickness of the bag at the twist where it would be clipped. I would probably start with the smaller 3/8 ring. But if you can measure how big your twisted end of the bag is and if it is larger than 3/8 then you may want to get the 1/2 rings.

I bought the spring loaded pliers and hog rings but they would not close tight enough to secure breakfast size links about hot dog size. Info said they closed to 9/32. Would the 3/8 rings with these pliers close tighter then what I bought or do I need to stick with kitchen string?............

The only link you need to tie is the beginning of your first link. After that you pump what you want for the size of the breakfast link. Grab the casing and twirl the link that you have tied off. Pump your second link and do the same, grab the casing and twirl around a few times. The links should stay together. My brother always took the last link grabbed the casing and made a simple loop, pinched it toward the finished first link and then continued using the next one same way. this works.

Does this work on natural hog casings?

I would suggest you twist the hog casings instead of using hog rings. Natural casing take a twist very well, the rings may pierce the casing and cause your meat to spill out.

Are the pliers the same for 3/8 and 1/2 in?

Yes, they are the same pliers.

Are the hog rings microwavable safe to use when defrosting burger?

No, these are not microwave safe.

Will 1/2" hog ring work in 3/8" hog ring pliers?

Yes. As far as I know, there is only 1 size of pliers for all clips. I have used 5/8" and maybe 3/4". Same plirrs.

Being that the hog rings are galvanized, are they safe for making sausage ?

Our hog rings meet the RoHS standard for the content of these metals: Cadmium, Lead, Mercury, Chromium-

Will the 3/8 ring close tight enough for 19mm snack sticks?

Yes, the 3/8 inch hog ring will close the 19mm snack stick.

What wire gauge are the 3/8 inch rings?

They are 14 gauge galvanized steel.
